This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Whatever Media("vAudioLink", "we", "us") collects when you use the vAudioLink OBS plugins, hosted relay service, and web panel (the "Service"), how we use it, and your rights. We are the data controller. Contact: privacy@vaudiolink.eu, Box C8299, Kwikstaartlaan 42, 3704 GS Zeist, Netherlands.
1. Summary (the short version)
- We collect the minimum needed to run your account, sessions, and billing.
- We do not record or store your live audio or video. The relay forwards your media in real time and does not retain it.
- We use trusted processors for sign-in (Clerk), payments (Paddle), and optional Discord linking. We don't sell your data.
- If you self-host the relay, your media never touches our servers at all.
2. What we collect
Account data — when you sign in (via Clerk): your email address and an account identifier. Optionally a display name. We do not receive or store your password (Clerk handles authentication).
Discord data (only if you use the Discord-rooms feature) — your Discord user ID and display name, and which bound voice channel you are in. Used to connect you to the correct session. We do not read your messages.
Session & usage data — room/session identifiers, timestamps, streaming time (hours) used, which product (ASMR/Music/Scene), relay region, connection quality metrics (latency, packet counts), and your chosen plan. Used to run sessions, enforce time-based limits, and show you usage.
Billing data — handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details; we receive only subscription status, plan, billing country/tax status, and invoices. We do not store full card numbers.
Support data — if you contact support, the content of your messages and your email.
Technical/log data — IP address and connection metadata for relay connectivity, security, and abuse prevention; basic server logs.
3. What we do NOT collect or store
- Your live media. Audio and video transmitted through the relay are forwarded in real time and are not recorded or stored by default.
- Music Collab backing tracks are extracted/cached ephemerally on the relay only for the duration of a session and are cleared when the room closes; they are not part of your account record.
- We do not store payment card details, and we do not sell personal data.
4. How and why we use data (legal bases — GDPR)
- To provide the Service (accounts, sessions, relay connectivity, billing) — performance of a contract.
- To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse/fraud, and to secure the Service — legitimate interests.
- Discord linking — your consent (you choose to link; you can unlink at any time).
- To comply with legal/tax obligations (e.g. VAT invoicing) — legal obligation.
- Product communications you opt into — consent.
5. Who we share data with (processors & third parties)
We use a small number of processors, each under a data-processing agreement:
- Clerk — authentication (account email, session).
- Paddle — payments and tax (merchant of record).
- Discord — only if you link Discord (identity + voice presence).
- Our hosting/relay providers (EU data-centre providers) — to operate servers.
- Instatus — public status page (no personal data; service health only).
We may disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or in a business transfer. We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Our servers are operated primarily in the EU. Some processors (e.g. Clerk, Paddle, Discord) may process data outside the EU; where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
7. Data retention
- Account data: while your account is active, then deleted or anonymised after closure (subject to legal/tax retention, typically up to 7 years for invoices).
- Session/usage metadata: retained for billing and analytics for a limited period, then aggregated/anonymised.
- Live media: not retained (see §3).
- Support messages: retained while needed to resolve and improve support.
8. Your rights (GDPR / EEA & UK)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can export or delete your account data from the panel, or contact us at privacy@vaudiolink.eu. You can lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority — in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
9. Cookies
The web panel uses essential cookies for sign-in/session (set by Clerk) and basic functionality. We do not use advertising cookies. The marketing site uses minimal/no tracking.
10. Security
We use TLS for connections, short-lived server-issued tokens for relay access, and access controls on our systems. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; we will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
